Understand code before changing it

Do not change anything yet.

Read {{TARGET}} and tell me:
- What it does, in four sentences.
- What calls it, and what it calls.
- Which parts look deliberate and which look accidental.
- What would break if I changed {{INTENDED_CHANGE}}.

Then wait. I will tell you whether to proceed.

The most expensive mistake with a coding agent is letting it edit a file it has not read properly. It will invent a function that does not exist, confidently, and the result compiles often enough to reach production.

“Then wait” is the important line. A model told to understand and change will do both in one pass and you will never see the understanding.
